On the Evening of November 6th, our long time friend Mason Coggin passed away. He will be missed by us all. A Celebration of Mason's life will be held November 19, 2000 at C. J. Studios, 2005 N. 103rd Ave from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Mason was a member of the Arizona Mineral and Mining Museum Foundation and served on our Board of Trustees. He was the man we went to when we had a question about the minerals or history of the famous Bisbee mining district. His honesty and concern for the mining industry, miners, and even mining investors got him in some hot water now and then, but his integrity was never questioned.
Mason retired from mining engineering after 40 years of chasing metal and mineral deposits throughout the world. As the Director of the Department of Mining and Mineral Resources he was involved in publishing several books on mineral development and production. His interest in mining history led to his writing several articles on the (Continued on page 7)
