(Continued from page 10)
some of the background on how the foundation started. Steve pointed out that the foundation needs to maintain some autonomy to preserve the collection in the event that the State decides to do something different with the Museum and its collections. Jan Walls emphasized that something in the name needs to imply that we support the Museum. Mason said that one of the problems that has to be dealt with is the way the State handles money. Ray Grant suggested that the decision be tabled. Les said he feels that having the Museum in the name lends credibility to the organization. Marc suggested that something should be written about Mr. Flagg and why we honor him. Steve Decker withdrew his motion and suggested that we poll the membership before making a decision. It was decided to keep our current name and find a way to keep the memory of A. L. Flagg. Additional Space for the Foundation at the Museum - Les said he had walked around the Museum with Doug Sawyer before the meeting tonight to examine the space issue. Doug is willing to provide space for the foundation. This would be another building capture project for the foundation. Les suggested that some of the members might be able to help with the project themselves. The group discussed the possibility of having some kind of "Walkaround Hall of Fame." Input from the Membership - Ray Grant is going to teach the mineralogy class at Mesa Community College in the Fall Semester of 2000. Darrel said that the foundation needs to put up something to honor Sarah Foster.
Since there was no more business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Lois Splendoria, Secretary
