talked about the idea of expanding the Family Day at the Museum in 2000 to a two-day show.  He invited the attendees to discuss the idea.  Christine said that the MSA voted to pursue this idea.  Discussion followed.  Lavone pointed out that this event is two weeks before the GeoExpositions Show and that we would not have the manpower to do both events.  The October Family Day is scheduled for October 21.  The decision was that the foundation will continue to pursue this.

TGMS Poster Agreement - Les said that excess posters are printed every year for the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show.  They currently have about 8,500 posters in inventory.  The posters are currently being sold on the web site, but there is a lot of inventory to move, and TGMS does not have the staff to take care of it.

Paul Harder approached Les with the idea of having another entity buy the inventory at approximately 25 cents per poster.  The foundation would be responsible for storing and marketing the posters.  The foundation would also assume the responsibility of selling them at the Tucson Show, which would entail running the poster booth there.  Les said he would take responsibility for finding someone to do that.  Les said part of his proposal was to have the two web sites, the one for the TGMS (www.tgms.com) and the foundation web site, linked.  The foundation would keep the proceeds from the sales.  Les outlined the part of the proposal around the price structure.  He said the Tucson Show Committee would retain the responsibility for the design of the poster.  They would get the profit for the current show poster that is sold at the annual show.  After the show, the foundation would have responsibility for the inventory.

Christine suggested that a secure web site be obtained for $125 per year to offer secure

credit card transactions.  Ray suggested that the foundation make an agreement to give Christine a portion of each poster sale to pay for the secure web site.

Les proposed that the TGMS still receive 15 percent of the gross proceeds.  He said that the TGMS is currently paying the printer to store the posters.  He also suggested that there should be a clause in the agreement that is prepared that "enough is enough" (as far as how long the posters are kept in inventory before they are not marketable anymore).  Lavone said that she could see the opportunity to use the posters in school rooms and auction them at our events.  Darrel pointed out that the posters could not be stored in the trailer because of the heat in the summertime.  Some discussion followed about the other places where the posters could be stored.

Les said he is working on getting permission to sell them at the Symposium for the same price that they were at the Tucson Show.  He said we cannot sell them for less yet because we do not have approval from the TGMS at this time.  It was the consensus of the members in attendance to proceed with this project.

Foundation Name Change - Steve moved that we change the name of the foundation to the A. L. Flagg Foundation; seconded by Jan Walls.  Discussion followed.  The question was posed about why the foundation name was changed to begin with.  Ray explained the history and evolution of the foundation.  He said that Harvey Smith was going to start a new organization and decided to work with the core of the existing foundation.  Mason Coggin pointed out that Harvey Smith was on the board of the Museum at the time the name was changed.  Marc Watson said that the original foundation was started after A. L. Flagg's death to maintain what currently existed.  She gave
