Well here it is again...Somebody else who is asking for a little bit more of our precious and dwindling time. The Boss keeps hinting that a little Overtime would get things caught up, the kids have a Choir concert and a Strings Recital, on top of homework and dance lessons, all of which require one parent either on call or serving as Transportation Engineer...mom's taxi is making ominous grinding noises and this isn't the only non-profit organization that needs a piece of us, either! Blood Services has been calling every couple of weeks for months, and it turns out I (and probably you, too,) have the most desperately needed human blood type and possibly the only available blood in the western United States, if not the world. Unfortunately, it is thick as molasses, which helps it stay inside me, but makes it mighty slow to fill up the little Plastic Pillow. And then there is that darned old Collection Committee! We meet twice a month, mostly, and we have been at it for years, and we don't get a doggone thing done! Well, except maybe for the Database, (it's been done several times now ;>) ...and then Harvey is doing a GREAT job with the high tech photography and that cool website with the rotating Virtual Specimens and Tours and stuff (that is the most fun part for me!)….oh yea, Darrel did get Jay Hays to make us some nice new plastic stands for the labels in the Gallery, oh, Hey, that's something else, we did get the labels Printed, Cut, and placed with the right ( I hope!) specimens, and we did clean all the electrical and construction sup

plies out of the Gallery before the Family Day, and those Boxes and Boxes of A.J.'s book that some of you have had to move three or four times have finally been moved out to the trailer (Thanks to Darrel Dodd in Particular!). I hope they get sold before it gets hot next summer, or they will get ruined!! I bet AJ is wishing someone would volunteer to put them all together so we could sell them at the Flagg Show this year! We didn't quite hold up our end of the deal at the state Fair, though. Luckily, the Foundation has good Friends like Lois Splendoria, Gilbert Flores, Betty Deming, and Marc Watson, who unpacked and displayed the Minerals that were selected for our display. Thank You Very Much!
One good thing about the darned old Collection Committee is that new people are showing a lot of interest these days. In fact, it seems like many of our new members are looking for ways to get involved, but aren't sure what to do, and the Collection Committee's irrepressible members are often noisy enough to attract their attention.
For those of you who are ready to pitch in, there are many enjoyable places to donate your time around the Museum. Susan Celestian is looking for interested people to be guides and regular volunteers, to show visitors the hospitality that made Arizona famous (see page 3 for her wish list). Our own A.L. (Continued on page 3)
