September 2008 Regular Meeting Minutes (Draft) Arizona Mineral and Mining Museum Foundation September 18, 2008
Attendees: Lavone Archer, Shirley Coté, Steve Decker, Darrel Dodd, Doug Duffy, Robin Evans, Genie & Jack Howell, Paul Jaeger, Harvey Jong, Chuck Kominski, Phil Reinhardt, Phil Richardson, Dana Slaughter
The meeting was called to order by Phil Richardson since Ray Grant was in Australia.
A. Secretary's Report in Last Newsletter
Harvey Jong indicated that the draft Minutes were published in the Newsletter and asked for any corrections. Phil pointed out that Marcus Origlieri's last name was misspelled in the Newsletter. This error, however, appears in some articles and not in the Minutes. No other modifications were suggested. Doug Duffy moved to the accept the Minutes. Genie Howell seconded the motion. The motion passed.
B. Treasurer's Report (Darrel Dodd)
Darrel mentioned that he filed the Foundation's annual report with the Arizona Corporation Commission. He indicated that a check for $3000 has been provided to the Museum for display case security. He renewed the domain name, azminfun.com, until the year 2013. He also raised a question about another bill for web hosting services that he received from C&R Productions. Payment of a similar bill was made in August. Harvey indicated that he would check into the extra bill.
Darrel pointed out that the Techniprint bill for the last Newsletter has been paid, while a check for $250 will be provided to the Museum for Family Day. He asked for any outstanding bills. Doug moved to accept the Treasurer's Report. Genie seconded the motion. The motion passed.
C. Committee Reports

out that the mineral inventory remains low and asked for donations. Harvey brought up a flyer about a sale on Sept. 27 by an individual who had previously contacted the Foundation about advertising eBay auctions in the Newsletter. Phil commented that he checked into this dealer and found that the person has mostly lapidary materials.
Phil mentioned that the committee decided to experiment with selling some cabachons from the Fogg Collection on eBay. Dana Slaughter and Mike Shannon volunteered to post a few cabs, but this is still in progress.
Phil reminded members that a work day at Lindco has been scheduled on Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 8am-noon. This session will involve sorting and pricing minerals for Family Day and will replace the committee meeting in the evening. a. Next Meeting: 9/23 at Lindco 8am-noon

Harvey reported that the website has been updated with information on the Flagg Show. This update includes a printable flyer, dealer contract, and a countdown timer that displays the number of days until the show. He indicated that he would post the new Flagg Show poster. He also mentioned that he renewed the domain name, peraltastones.com, for another year. Darrel commented that the domain name should be extended for a longer period.
3. Newsletter (Steve Decker)
Steve presented extra copies of the Newsletter and thanked members for their inputs. He remarked that this edition included articles that might be suitable for Rock and Gem magazine. Jack Howell suggested adding mineral and lapidary magazines to the mailing list.
Steve described recent postage and printing expenses. There was some discussion about cost of folding/stapling the Newsletter and the opportunity to save some money if someone was interested in performing this task. He requested another $350. Genie moved to provide Steve with $350 for the next |
