Ray presented questionnaires on the Mining Information Center and on the Museum. Results of this survey will be reviewed at the conference. He asked interested members to fill out a survey.
2. Chinese Visitors
Ray summarized a program to exchange specimens and personal visits between the Museum and the Yifu Museum and China University of Geosciences in Wuhan, China. He indicated that four Chinese representatives are currently visiting Arizona.
a. Friday night reception
He announced that a reception for the Chinese visitors will be held on Friday, March 9 at 7 pm at the Museum. This reception will feature presentations on the Yifu Museum, the university, and minerals of China.
b. Funds for field trip
Ray mentioned that he along with Cynthia and Stan and Susan Celestian hosted a field trip to northern Arizona for the Chinese visitors. This trip included visits to the Grand Canyon, Sunset Crater, Meteor Crater, and the Petrified Forest. He requested funds to cover trip expenses for the Chinese visitors. Bill moved to reimburse Ray for these expenses. Chuck seconded the motion. The motion passed.
3. Other New Business
Darrel pointed out that the Foundation receives rent-free space at Lindco to store various show materials. He wanted to organize thank you luncheon for the 12 Lindco employees. He asked for funds to cover this lunch. Genie moved to reimburse Darrel for catering expenses. Bill seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Christmas were unsuccessful and suggested that Chuck should be the new chairperson for Foundation field trips. Bill recommended Chuck for the position. Lavone seconded the recommendation. The recommendation passed.
6. Flagg Show - 2008 (January 4,5,6)
a. Publicity

Ray pointed out the show dates and suggested that members should starting thinking about publicity ideas.

D. Old Business

1. Scholarship
Ray mentioned that a Scholarship Committee has been on-going for the past several years. No scholarships, however, have been awarded, and he asked members for comments. Darrel indicated that he was looking to setting up a 529 fund, but there is an issue involving designating beneficiaries. There was additional discussion on award amounts, criteria, and potential candidates.
2. Other old business
Chuck commented that he has some Board of Governors' insurance forms. Ray added that the Foundation was looking into this insurance for officers and trustees and asked Chuck to bring the forms to the next meeting.

E. New Business

1. Conference on the future of the Department of Mines - Saturday March 31
Ray described an upcoming conference to discuss the future of the Department of Mines and Mineral Resources. The meeting is aimed at gathering public comments and ideas. He mentioned that various stakeholders, including a representative from each club that meets at the Museum, have been invited. He encouraged interested members to attend.
a. Funds for lunch
Ray mentioned that a lunch is planned for conference attendees, but there was some uncertainty over whether the Department could spend money on this. So, he asked that the Foundation to donate funds towards the lunch. Genie moved to allocate funds for the lunch. Bill seconded the motion. The motion passed.
