schedule a trip, so he proposed that the Foundation provide funds to make up the minimum. June 3rd was identified as the most likely date for the trip. Steve said that he wouldn't be available on that date, so Mike volunteered to organize the activity.
Phil opened the discussion on other field trip ideas. Darrel described the good collecting experiences from the post-Symposium trip to the Asarco Sacaton mine. Bill commented that he would check with a neighbor about the possibility of a trip to Bollard mine near Aguila. Steve suggested that some members research possible locations before inviting the general membership, while Bob mentioned a recent trip to the Ray mine.
5. Flagg Show - 2007 (January 5, 6, 7)
Phil thanked members for their help with the dealer mailing and mentioned that he has a list of people interested in displaying an exhibit at the show. He also indicated that he is putting together a checklist of show preparations. There was some discussion on reserving spaces for the Foundation and other clubs. A suggestion was made to have show committee shirts or badges so that people would who know to contact with questions/issues.
Harvey pointed out the need to focus on show publicity and described two show promotion ideas that were considered, but not implemented last year: a public service announcement with Harkins Theaters and mineral trading cards. He also mentioned that the theme for the show poster will be Arizona Copper. Phil recommended holding a separate meeting to discuss show publicity efforts.
Dick brought up having a museum presence at the show which generated some discussion. Doug and Shirley will meet with Sue to determine what materials and other items will be made available at the show, while Phil will add this to his checklist.

Old Business

1. Any old business
Doug thank the Foundation for the Art Bloyd award. He noted that the award was a big surprise and honor.

New Business

1. Family Day
Shirley brought up a request to move Family Day from the third Saturday in October to the fourth Saturday. The need to change the date is due to a

conflict with the Arizona Prospectors' Annual Steak Fry. There was some discussion on the new event date. Lavone moved to change Family Day to Oct. 28. Bill seconded the motion. The motion passed.
2. Increasing Public Interest/Participation at the Museum
Phil introduced the idea of building a "Collector's Corner" exhibit next to the Flagg Gallery. This exhibit would feature past and present mineralogists and collectors who have influenced mineral collecting in Arizona. The intent is to attract more visitors to the Museum. Several issues were discussed including how to get Foundation members to volunteer to keep these areas open to the public and the general lack of space within the Museum. Doug mentioned the possibility of adding the Museum to Phoenix's First Friday Art Walk. Phil suggested a meeting with Sue and Doug to discuss these ideas.
3. Speaker for Next Meeting
Dick suggested having a program about Resolution Copper's mining activities near Superior. Dana indicated that he would check into a possible speaker.
Next Regular Meeting, Thursday Sept. 21, 7 PM

Adjournment

With no further business to discuss, Doug moved to adjourn the meeting. Bob seconded the motion. The motion passed, and the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Harvey Jong, Secretary
