Committee Reports

1. Collection Committee
Bill described the mineral and lapidary materials donated by Gary Spraggins. Items were part of a storage locker purchased by Gary along with stuff collected over the years. The donation included numerous crates of geodes, quartz crystals, petrified wood, chrysocolla, agates and fossils. He thanked Genie Howell, Harvey Jong, and Dick Zimmermann for their help in moving the materials to the Foundation trailer. Bill plans to schedule a work day in the Fall to sort and package the items for the Flagg Show.
Bill reviewed the efforts to make a plaque with a biography of A. L. Flagg that will be mounted below Mr. Flagg's portrait. He indicated that he wants to confirm various biographical details before the plaque is engraved, but attempts to contact Richard Flagg have been unsuccessful. Bob Jones mentioned that he will call Richard about proofreading the biography.
Bill commented that the 2006 Flagg Show poster has been framed and mounted in the Flagg Gallery. He also pointed out that another plaque is planned for recognizing individuals or groups who donate

specimens to the Foundation Collection.
Phil reminded members that the next Collection Committee will be held Tuesday, 5/23. He also asked about the status of the
Rock and Gems "Kids' Korner" contest. Steve Decker summarized how prize winners are selected, while Bill described how prize packages are put together and mailed to the winners. Bob donated some books and Australian opals as future prizes. There was some discussion on keeping track of past winners and prizes. Dick suggested promoting the Kids' Korner contest at the Museum with a copy of the magazine and/or a poster. Doug Duffy and Shirley Coté will discuss this with Susan Celestian.
Mike Shannon announced the possibility of a donation of petrified wood and various rocks from Bruce Runner in California. There is, however, an issue with transporting the materials to Arizona, and Mike indicated that he will keep the committee posted of any developments.

2. Website www.AZMinFun.com
Harvey mentioned that the Web pages on the Foundation Collection and the Collection Committee have been updated. He also indicated that he has an open request from Les Presmyk to update the Tucson Show poster pages, but hasn't received any new poster images. He asked for any new Web updates, but nothing was submitted.
Darrel asked about changing the admin contact for the Foundation domain name. Harvey will contact Randall Siler about this.
3. Newsletter
Steve indicated that due to some unexpected savings in mailing the last Newsletter he would need less funds to publish the next edition. He brought in copies of old Newsletters and invited members to take copies that they might be interested in. Harvey suggested saving a set for archival purposes.
4. Field Trips
(Ideas and volunteers needed to organize field trips.)
Steve reported that he received a note from Gary Spraggins about collecting at the Fat Jack mine before fire season restrictions start. Steve emailed members about the trip, and 6-7 people responded that they were interested. Ten people are needed to
