Foundation Members Make It Happen!

Dana Slaughter has been selecting, packing and mailing the prizes that The Foundation provides for the Rock and Gem Kids club Winners for quite some time now, but due to the tribulations of working mandatory overtime, he is not able to continue.
I really appreciate the effort he put into this task, and it really made my job a lot easier!
Thanks, Dana! I think that you made a difference in some kids' lives.
Bill Yedowitz has committed the collection committee to this effort, but I know they can use your help.  In the past year or so, the Collection Committee has completed some very impressive milestones, such as improving and re-lamping the cases in the Flagg Gallery, correcting the specimen labels and making them uniform, choosing and purchasing stands for the specimens, improving the arrangement of the displays, and so much more!
Even if you can't help out with the Collection Committee, perhaps you can donate some of those old flats of specimens to the Kid's Club Prize chest.  If so, pack them up and bring them to the next meeting or the Symposium.  They will do more good in a kid's excited hands than they will in a dusty box in your storeroom!

OK, I took some pics at Desert Gardens, my favorite show. New this year were large stalactites and stalagmites from China. In fact, there's a lot of
China everywhere.

At Desert Gardens in Quartzsite, I always look forward to the WalMart of amethyst, ROC3000.   I also seek them at the AZ Mineral & Fossil Show, especially as they are unpacking!!

Garry Underwood and I stand next to his scrap metal dinosaur model outside the Vogel's Fossils booth at Desert Gardens.

Tucson has some serious inflation.  Eggs are  $2100 a Dozen here and they aren't even fresh!
