attendance. So, Sue Celestian described the project plans and status. She mentioned that this gallery will be located in the southwest corner of the museum and will be developed in two phases. The first phase will involve building interpretative exhibits on how copper forms along with a zigzag wall of mineral cases featuring different copper mines. Phase two will focus on adding activity-oriented kiosks with interactive touch screens. Sue provided a copy of the detailed project proposal to Phil.
Sue reported that Phelps Dodge has made two grants for implementing the first phase, while the Leaverite Society and Arizona Prospectors Association have pledged funds. A grant proposal for matching Federal money for the combined total was submitted to the IMLS organization. The Foundation failed to make a pledge before the deadline to submit the IMLS proposal.  There was some discussion on funding needs and how the Foundation can help support the project. Suggestions were made on contributing funds to start initial phase 1 development, creating/contributing towards a separate matching grant program, or adopting phase 2 and providing seed money to explore options. No specific commitment was made due to lack of consensus on a contribution amount or plan and concerns about the Foundation's financial resources. Bill moved that Foundation Officers should meet in executive session and develop a proposal to present at the Annual Meeting. Lavone seconded the motion. The motion passed.
2. Jeanne Youell Collection
Phil described the collection that is being offered to the Foundation. He asked for volunteers to help pick up the materials in Weldon, AZ. Bill, Stan, and Dick indicated that they would arrange a visit to view and accept the donation.
3. Symposium Speakers
Phil announced that Jim McGlasson has agreed to present a program on vanadates, while Joe Marty will speak on wulfenite localities in the Western U.S.
4. Nominating Committee
Harvey pointed out that per the Foundation By-laws a nominating committee of three members needs to be appointed. Stan Celestian, Jeff Johnson,

tables that will be used for mineral display cases at the show. Lavone moved to purchase the tables. Bill seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Darrel pointed out that the mornings at the show can be very cold and that a heater would be a benefit to workers. There was some discussion on the most effective type of heating unit. Genie moved to purchase a heater. Steve seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Old Business

1. Donating The Sphere Collection To The Museum
The proposal to donate the sphere collection was discussed. The main issue involved whether lapidary materials fit within the scope of the Foundation's collection and if such items would better served in the hands of the Museum. A suggestion was made to also donate the bowl collection. Both proposals will be described in the Newsletter and voted on separately at the Annual Meeting. Comments regarding these donations should be sent to Steve and will be included in the Newsletter.
2. Flagg Gallery Wall Space
Lavone mentioned that she received a document from Genie describing an agreement with the Museum about wall space outside the Flagg Gallery. Per this agreement, the Foundation has 25 feet on each side of the Gallery entrance for outside displays.
3. Outstanding Debts
There was some discussion on outstanding debts owed to the Foundation by members and ways of collecting these funds. Bill moved to establish a policy of sending a letter to non-paying members specifying the amount due to the Foundation and stating that they will be prohibited from participating in Foundation-sponsored functions until all debts are paid in full. Genie seconded the motion. The motion passed.
