Committee Reports

1. Poster Sales
Phil mentioned that he contacted Paul Harter about the new poster sales contract with the Tucson Gem and Mineral Society. Paul indicated that Les had reviewed the document; however, he wasn't sure if it had been delivered to the Tucson club. Phil will follow up with Les.
2. Collection Committee (Bill Yedowitz)
(Meeting fourth Tuesday of the month 6:45PM)
Bill reported that the reorganization of the mineral cases has been completed with a new consistent set of specimen labels. Five recently acquired 79 mine specimens have been put on display, while the Flagg Show posters have been framed and mounted. The Gallery improvements were unveiled to the public at the recent Museum Family Day event.  Bill summarized inventory efforts and indicated the next major committee projects will involve reconciling/updating the database and attaching some id numbers to specimens. Phil asked about the need for mineral stands. After some discussion, Genie Howell moved to allocate funds to purchase some stands. Jeff Johnson seconded the motion. The motion passed.  Bill mentioned that at the last committee meeting several flats of minerals donated by Dave Douglass along with some Bisbee

calcites from a previous purchase were priced. He pointed out, however, that there still is a major shortage of materials for the upcoming Flagg Show. He proposed buying some Rowley wulfenites and North Geronimo vanadinites. (See under New Business.) Ed Davis offered to donate some volcanic peridot bombs. A suggestion was made that Foundation members should also contribute some minerals. Phil proposed entering an exhibit at the next AZ State Fair. The idea was briefly discussed, and the committee will explore possible exhibits.
The next meeting is scheduled on Nov. 22 and will focus on pricing new minerals. Bill will schedule an additional work day to prepare for the Flagg Show.
3. Newsletter (Steve Decker)
Steve presented receipts for Newsletter expenses. He indicated that he still had some money remaining due to the shorter length of the Nov. Newsletter, but would need some supplemental funds for the next edition. He announced that the submission deadline will be Dec. 10.
4. Field Trips
There was some discussion on possible locations for the next field trip. Steve asked Ed about collecting at his sites. Ed commented that the Foundation was welcome to come and dig but that most members had already been to these areas. He suggested either the Monarch or Omega mines. Bill raised the possibility of a trip to the Bullard mine. Phil recommended that members look into arrangements and decide on a trip at the Annual Meeting.
5. Flagg Show - 2006 (January 6, 7, 8)
(Publicity)
Marc Fleischer wasn't present, so there was no update on publicity activities. Harvey Jong mentioned that he printed another batch of show posters that includes 15 glossy souvenir-quality posters and 60 on plain paper. He encouraged members to take some posters.  Lavone reported that she received show fees from 21 dealers. This response is similar to previous years. She requested to be reimbursed for mailing poster kits to dealers. She also mentioned that show flyers have been mailed to mineral/lapidary clubs and RV parks.
There was some discussion on buying five 8-foot
