We are very excited to announce the publication - or rather re-publication - of the Teacher Pac.  It was once a folder with reproducible activities on heavy card stock.  Now, as befitting a publication in a new century, it is a CD.  There are grade appropriate activities, general geology of Arizona information, a geologic time scale, maps of Arizona mines, and three PowerPoint presentations on mineral identification, crystal forms, and rock identification.   Liz Anderson, Shirley Cote, Laurette Kennedy, and I wrote and developed the Teacher Pac; with funding granted by Qwest.  The CD is being added to the Teacher Kit, and ultimately the material will be available on-line.

"Have Rocks, Will Travel", the Museum Outreach Program is in full swing.  Many schools are availing themselves of the opportunity to have Liz Anderson visit them.  A grant from APS allows schools lacking the funding to bring their students to Phoenix, or to pay for the costs of outreach, to apply for a scholarship and thereby benefit from the Museum's resources.  In addition, Resolution Copper underwrote the costs for three separate outreach trips to Superior schools.
And finally, Family Day on October 15th was a great success.  Five hundred and twenty-three  visitors, plus about 80 volunteers, had a wonderful time.   Thanks to all the volunteers who came forth to help.  The event certainly is becoming popular, as the public responds to the enthusiasm and warmth of all of you.

Activities for the young collectors are always popular at the Museum Family Day!
