area after the Symposium. However, he is still waiting for a specific contact person for this trip.
Ray asked for volunteers to help with future trips.
6. Flagg Show - 2006 (January 6, 7, 8)
a. Publicity (volunteers)
Ray announced that an initial Flagg Show Committee meeting has been scheduled for 4/7 at 7pm and that he will contact interested members with additional details.

Old Business

1. Any old business
Shirley Coté asked about proceeds from the last Flagg Show. Ray provided a quick summary of membership and vendor fees, sales and expenses.

New Business

1. New Board Member
Ray indicated that he received a letter of resignation from Christine Siler who is on the Board of Trustees. He thanked Christine for her involvement with the Foundation and recommended that the Board appoint Bill Yedowitz to fill the vacant position. Les moved to nominate Bill as a new board member. Paul Harter seconded the motion. The motion passed.
2. Funds to purchase mineral specimens
Ray described the current funding scheme where mineral sale proceeds are put into a trust fund, and the income from this fund is used to buy specimens. Since the fund is primarily invested in CD's, income hasn't been very significant. Subsequently, it's difficult to act on special buying opportunities, such as the Glove wulfenite that Phil Richardson and Dana Slaughter found at the Tucson Show. Ray proposed setting aside funds for special situations where 2-3 board members agree on acquiring a specimen. Les suggested that the Collection Committee discuss the idea and develop a specific proposal and guidelines.
3. Family Day - October 2005
Ray
asked Sue Celestian for a specific date for Museum Family Day. Sue indicated that it is typically held on the third Saturday in October, but she needed to confirm that there are no conflicts with other activities. Ray also raised some concerns about the effectiveness of the member-only pre-sale on the Friday night before Family Day. Attendance has been low for the past two years. He recom

mended that the Museum open a half hour early on Saturday for the pre-sale.
4. Museum Volunteers
Ray reminded members to contact Sue if they are interested in volunteering. He also suggested scheduling another Foundation Volunteer Day sometime in April or May. He asked Sue whether the Museum needed help assembling teacher kits or with other projects.
5. Other new business
Ray asked about Steve the e-mail list. Steve indicated that only about 30 members have provided e-mail addresses. Ray pointed out the importance of e-mail for sending out notices about late-breaking events that happen in between the Newsletters/Board Meetings. He encouraged members to add their names to the list by sending an e-mail message to Steve.
Les described the results of trimming a large andradite and quartz specimen from the Flagg Gallery. He proposed that the Foundation buy a group of Bisbee calcites which are from the 7th level of the Southwest mine. He indicated that several specimens are suitable for display in the Gallery, while the remaining pieces can be sold to recoup some of the costs. There was some discussion on how many Bisbee calcites are in the Collection and on specimen quality, uniqueness, value and salability. Paul moved to purchase the calcites. Lavone seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Lavone suggested changing the name of the Board Meeting to encourage more members to attend. Harvey offered to show some of Bill Hunt's slides.
