During the breaks, Darrel Dodd, Lavone Archer and other Foundation members manned the silent auction tables where attendees circled like hawks above choice specimens that sold for bargain prices. In between bids at the silent auction, several attendees helped correct spelling and locality information on the choice mineral specimens that are displayed in the Flagg gallery upstairs in the Museum. The suggested corrections were printed on pink post it notes that soon festooned the glass faces of the gallery cases.

Pete brought some very interesting samples of native copper from his claims in Cochise County. I hope he gets in touch with us about a fieldtrip soon!

I hope Harvey will put that tour up on the Foundation's web site for you all to enjoy! The luncheon was delicious, as always! The shredded beef burritos were tasty, and the chicken breast was excellent! The cole slaw was a surprise, since it was made with shredded jicama instead of cabbage, creating a very tender and sweet side dish. After lunch, it was Utah time. We met a really nice guy named Pete who had claimed a copper locality in Cochise Co., and many of us were really interested in the specimens he brought to show us. They were nuggets of native copper with some native silver on them, and were quite pretty! Unfortunately, he left before we got his address and other information. (Pete! Please Send me an email!
