2005 Annual Meeting Minutes (Draft)

Ray Grant called the meeting to order.

A. Minutes of the November Meeting
Ray mentioned that the November Board Meeting minutes were published in the last Newsletter and skipped the usual approval given the general meeting.

B. Treasurer's Report
Darrel Dodd reported that the Foundation's CD has been renewed and summarized the status of other investments and accounts. He asked for any bills and pointed out that opportunities to buy collections/specimens should be brought to the attention of a Board member.

C. Committee Reports

1. Collection Committee (Donn Cuson)
Donn Cuson was unable to attend the meeting, so Ray described the committee's projects which include cataloging, working on exhibits and pricing minerals. He reminded members that meetings are held every fourth Tuesday at the Museum. Ray invited interested members to attend and help improve the collection.

2. Website www.AZMinFun.com (Harvey Jong)
Harvey stated that the New Year's mineral ball tradition continued in 2005. This year the website fea

tures an interactive animation of a pyrite ball from China.

3. Newsletter (Steve Decker)
Steve asked for money and articles for the next Newsletter. He also mentioned that recently there hasn't been much interest in ordering Foundation logowear and encouraged members to e-mail requests to him.

Sam Nasser commended Steve for his efforts with the Kid's Corner column in Rock and Gem magazine, while Ray recognized Steve for his involvement in editing the Newsletter.

4. Symposium - 2005 - Saturday, April 16
Ray mentioned that the program and registration form for the 13th Annual Minerals of Arizona Symposium were included in the Newsletter.

a. Registration
Ray encouraged early registration and indicated that the deadline is Apr. 8.

5. Field Trips
Ray asked for ideas and volunteers to organize trips. He indicated that he still needs to verify with Phelps Dodge the trip to Miami area after the Symposium. If space is limited, Symposium attendees will be offered first choice in attending this trip.

6. Flagg Show - 2006 (January 6,7,8)
Ray pointed out the need to form a show committee and described his involvement in organizing the show over the past 19 years. He asked for 3-4 people to volunteer and help with publicity, signing up dealers, etc. An initial committee meeting will be scheduled in early Spring to discuss tasks and responsibilities.

7. Flagg Distinguished Service Award
Ray provided some background information on the award and indicated that nominations should be sent to Genie Howell before the Symposium.
