33rd Annual Flagg Gem and Mineral Show
The Flagg and Gem and Mineral Show will be Friday, Jan. 7 to Sunday, Jan. 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the southwest parking lot of Mesa Community College on Dobson Road just north of the Superstition Freeway (Route 60) at the Dobson Road exit. There are over 40 dealers paid and we expect at least 80 dealers by show time. Many clubs will be present with information about their groups. The MCC Geology Club will have free activities for children. Special kits of rock and mineral samples will be available for teachers. PARKING AND ADMISSION ARE FREE!!!
Treasure Hunt The Peralta Treasure Maps (Peralta Stones) will be on exhibit at this year's Flagg Gem and Mineral Show. The Arizona Mineral and Mining Museum Foundation (sponsor of the Gem and Mineral Show) is the owner of the stones. They were on exhibit at the first Flagg Gem and Mineral Show in 1970. Since then they have been stored in several places but have not been on public exhibit except by special arrangement. The Mesa Southwest Museum has a replica of the stones in their exhibit about the Lost Dutchman. These three controversial stone tablets are believed by many to be maps to a Peralta silver treasure. Other folks think they are clues about some lost gold mine, and they have even been related to the Lost Dutchman Mine.
