Arizona Mineral and Mining Museum Foundation News

Volume 14 Number 4                        In Memory of A. L. Flagg                                            Summer 2004

The Arizona Mineral and Mining Museum Foundation was formed to support the Arizona Mining and Mineral Museum.

Flagg Show 2005

The Foundation is going to have some great publicity for this year's Flagg Show. We are planning to display the Peralta Stones at the 2005 show. There will be an article about the Peralta Stones with photographs in the January Issue (comes out in December) of Arizona Highways with information about the Flagg Show. We owe a great debt to Liz Anderson, Museum Tour Guide and Volunteer. She is helping with our publicity this year and arranged the Arizona Highways article.

Rockhounds of all ages enjoy the Family Day activities

Family Day 2004

Family Day  2004 will be held Saturday, October 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Museum. There will be many activities such as gold panning, metal detecting, rock and mineral identification, "extraordinary" demonstrations of wire wrapping, carving and lapidary arts.  Special kids activities (making jewelry, pet rocks, rock I.D. cards) are one of the high points of the day for everyone.
The Foundation will be holding its semi-annual sale and dealers will be present selling minerals, fossils, and lapidary materials.
There will be a special pre-sale for Foundation members from 6:00 to 8:00 p,m, on Friday, October 15. Light refreshments will be served on Friday night.  The Foundation has acquired by gift and purchase several collections and there will be some interesting specimens for sale.

The mysterious Peralta Stones will be displayed at the Flagg Show at Mesa Community College January 7, 8, & 9, 2005.
