The Arizona Mineral and Mining Museum Foundation was formed to support the Arizona Mining and Mineral Museum.

Board of Governors Tours Museum

     Charlie Connel, a member of the "Monday Crew" and the person with the most volunteer hours for 2003, took the Board of Governors of the Department of Mines and Mineral Resources on a tour of the Museum before their last quarterly meeting. He presented the Board with future plans for the Museum and some of the projects of the new FAMMM organization.
     On the second floor, the House of Minerals, showing the various uses of minerals in a home, needs about $80,000 for a computer and software to make the exhibit interactive for visitors.
     Exhibits in the antique flat cases in the main hall are hard for many students to view. They would be replaced with about 30 new vertical cases at a cost of about $5,000 per case.

     There is a large area on the west side of the Museum, which would be made into a stope with several adits at different levels showing a variety of mining techniques. This project would have a high cost as structural work needs to be completed in this space, but is a long-term goal.
     Finally, there are plans to make the front room into the "Copper Room" that would house a number of new exhibits related to copper mining and copper minerals. The FAMMM is currently working
