tion will continue selling posters next year, and Les Presmyk and Paul Harter will oversee this activity. There was some discussion about volunteers to sell posters and selling posters on the Web.
2. Peralta Stones
There was some discussion about locking up the Peralta Stones after a Family Day incident where visitors were found handling the artifacts. People interested in studying/photographing the Stones should be informed that the artifacts are publicly displayed only once a year and that they should buy Steve's CD of images.

New Business

1. Nominating Committee
Ray asked for volunteers to form a nominating committee for officers and board members. Genie and Cynthia indicated that they work on assembling a slate of candidates.
2. Museum request for tables and cart
Stan
Celestian presented the Museum's request for 20 plastic folding tables and a cart. The tables would replace older ones that are in various states of disrepair and are awkward to handle. The cart would be used to transport materials for the Outreach program. Shirley also requested shock absorbing floor mats for the Museum gift shop. After some discussion, Doug moved to allocate funds to purchase the tables, cart, and flooring. Ben Benham seconded the motion. The motion passed.
3. Arrowhead School trip funds
Steve mentioned that several teachers at Arrowhead School would like to have students visit the Museum but the cost of bus transportation represents an obstacle. He proposed creating a pilot program where the Foundation would subsidize bus expenses for school field trips to the Museum. Concerns about selection criteria and potential opportunities for publicity were discussed. Lavone moved to provide limited funds for a pilot program to help defray bus expenses for Arrowhead School field trips to the Museum. Ben seconded the motion. The motion passed.
4. Annual Meeting date
Ray pointed out traditionally the Annual Meeting is held on the evening before the Flagg Show. For 2004, the meeting would fall on New Year's day.

Subsequently, he recommended moving the Annual Meeting to Friday, Jan. 2. However, he also indicated that the member-only pre-sale is a major reason why many people come to the meeting. So, he suggested offering pizza and soda along with a special member-only sale featuring new "preferred" minerals that would not be available to the public until after this sale.
5. Other new business
Shirley requested help from Foundation members in distributing Maricopa Lapidary Society's Gem and Mineral Show flyers and posters.

Next Board Meeting/Annual Meeting - Friday Jan. 2, 2004 - Mesa Community College

Adjournment

With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,

Annual Foundation Meeting

In a break from our usual tradition, The Annual Meeting of the Arizona Mineral and Mining Museum Foundation will be Friday Night, January 2, 2004. The Flagg Show will run from 9 to 5 that day and at 6 PM we will meet in room PS3N in the Physical Science Building. (Stop at the Foundation booth if you need directions.) Refreshments will be served and members can preview the minerals for the member's only sale. The business meeting and election of officers will start at 7 PM and the sale will follow the meeting. Since there won't be a presale this year, special specimens will be held back for the Members sale, which will also feature lots of door prizes and snacks, so be sure to mark it on your calendar.  Plan now to attend, join the fun and take part in the business of the Foundation. It will be a long day, but it will be fun!

Congrats to Ben Benham
Board Member, Lifetime Member, and recipient of the ALFlagg Distinguished Service Award, on his 90th birthday!
