The Arizona Mineral and Mining Museum Foundation was formed to support the Arizona Mining and Mineral Museum.

How Many Volunteers Does It Take to Install a Tire Rim?

      Quite a few if the rim weighs over 3 tons, the tire is over twelve feet in diameter, and it is used on a truck that weighs over a million pounds. The "Monday Crew" is a group of volunteers who meet each Monday to work at the Museum. They have been working most Mondays for the past six years and are responsible for all of the outside mining restoration activities.
     The 10,000 pound truck tire was a donation from the Sierrita Mine in Green Valley in October of 2001. The tire rim arrived at the museum from the Morenci Mine in November of this year. The installation of the rim completed the project.
