The Eleventh Annual Minerals of Arizona Symposium
The Symposium was a resounding success again this year, with good speakers, a great lunch and the very special surroundings of the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. Generous donations of specimens made the silent auction very exciting, and the camaraderie of mineral aficionados filled the room.
Friday evening was the reception at the Cave Exhibit, and Anna Domitrovic took groups of attendees into the vault to examine the lovely specimens kept there. Delicious chips and salsa were served with wine, beer and soft drinks. I was hoping to see the specimen of gold found on the dumps at Tiger, but it was on loan to the UA mineral museum for a special gold exhibit. While taking a self guided tour of the cave exhibit, I noticed a placard
linarite, and many others. See a few pictures from the Blanchard mine by Harvey Jong in the last newsletter.
