Lavone moved to allocate funds to the Museum for Family Day supplies and food. Bob seconded the motion. The motion passed. 7. Flagg Show - Jan. 3,4,5, 2003: Ray thanked members for helping stuff envelopes for the dealer mailing. He also pointed out that Harvey is working on a show poster and encouraged everyone to hand out flyers. 8. Symposium - 2003 - March 28-30: Ray reported on the current plans for symposium activities which include: 3/28 - We are trying to arrange an Open House around 7 pm at the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum with a tour of the back room "vault" with new acquisitions. 3/29 - Presentations at the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum, still need 2-3 speakers. Cost may be slightly higher due to a different caterer. Open House at the University of Arizona Mineral Museum in the evening. 3/30 - Field Trip Ray and Anna are trying to arrange a group rate at a local motel.
Old Business
1. Economic Geology Collection: Ray is still trying to determine who put together the Economic Geology Collection that the Foundation acquired. He also mentioned that someone from the USGS will take a look at the materials and evaluate if they represent an appropriate addition to the Lindgren Collection. 2. Other Old Business: Dana Slaughter indicated that he is willing to donate a barrister's bookcase to the Foundation. Ray suggested that the Collection Committee look into how the bookcase might be used in the Flagg Gallery.
New Business
1. New Business: Shirley announced that Doug Duffy will be retiring from the Museum at the end of the year and that she would also be reducing her hours at the Museum as well. After January, the Collection Committee may need to make arrangements for someone to open up the Museum on Thursday evenings.
