The Arizona Mineral and Mining Museum Foundation was formed to support the Arizona Mining and Mineral Museum.

Chairman's Corner

Family Day at the Museum (October 26) was a great success. About 500 people came to the Museum on a day marked by rain and hail. There were many activities, and the children in attendance had great fun making jewelry or a mineral collection. The Prospectors Association ran their gold panning between rain showers. The Foundation had a successful sale. Thanks for a great job by everyone who was involved.

After this last sale we are really scraping the bottom of the trailer. We have quite a few low end flats in the trailer and the material left from this sale but that is all. Our next sale will be at the Flagg Show in January. So if you have any minerals, fossils, or lapidary material in your garage, shop, or under your bed and would like to put it to good use, consider donating it to the Foundation. We will even pick it up so give me a call.

If you attend the trustees meetings (everyone is invited) you know that our treasury is in very good shape. This money is mainly the result of the sale of the trailer full of material. When the decision was made to sell the specimens in the trailer, the board voted to put that money into a trust from which the interest would be used to purchase additional quality specimens for exhibit in the Museum. We have purchased some very good specimens, but because of low interest rates the funds available have been less than expected.
