dirt/mountain road heading west toward the mountain to Crown King. Stay on the main road and go past Crown King for another 4 miles. There will be a big pullout on the right, you'll see signs of camping back off the road and a small road/trail that leads into the forest with a small metal post with a "100" on it. This is where the road gets ROUGH, climbing over boulders and the like. If you don't have 4-wheel drive or high ground clearance, this is a good place to park and carpool with those with 4-wheel drive. If there aren't enough seats for everyone, give us a call and we can come take up to 4 people in our truck. If you do proceed, go about 1.75 miles (approx.). Stay on the "main" road, left at the first Y then right at the next Y. You can make sure you are on the right road for the last leg if after you make the right at the Y you see a pine tree on the right side of the road that has a branch that bends in an upside down "L" shape. Again, stay on the "main" road not taking any turn offs. You'll come to a nice open flat spot before the road bends sharply and runs into the gate. This is a good place to park as there is no room for parking at the mine itself, especially with the backhoe running. It is only about 1/4 mile walk from there. If anyone can't make the uphill hike, again, I can take them up in our truck. Be sure to bring plenty of water, food and warm clothes in layers that can be peeled off as it warms up. We're at 7000 feet elevation. There are no facilities so "pack it in - pack it out".
Our cell phone number is 480-215-2912. If you get lost, give us a buzz. See you then.
