Tenth Annual Minerals of AZ Symposium By Ray Grant and Steve Decker
With regards to minerals, Arizona is triply blessed. We have great mineral specimens in our state, many localities to collect minerals, and a generous group of people willing to share their knowledge of those minerals and localities. Over the past ten years, 44 speakers have given 85 talks at the Minerals of Arizona Symposiums. This year we had nine interesting and informative talks by outstanding speakers.
Anna Domitrovic spoke of minerals added to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum collection in the past ten years and Jim McGlasson discussed tellurium minerals in the Southwestern U.S.A
Les Presmyk told us the history of our Foundation's collection and described the most notable acquisitions we have made over the past decade.
Jeff Scovil, showed us pictures of some of the Arizona minerals that he has photographed in the past ten years.
Sugar White showed us lovely micro photographs of Arizona minerals that are only found in the field of view of a microscope.
Karen Wenrich described hiking the Canyon Country and using a helicopter to explore caves while studying the Breccia Pipes of Northern Arizona.
A very attentive and appreciative crowd listened to the great talks.
