Chairman's Corner I would like to start my first letter as chairman by writing about the Museum volunteers. Any Volunteer who works more than 100 hours in a year at the Museum receives a free membership in the Foundation. In 2001 and there were 27 people who worked more than 100 hours. These 27 people worked almost 10,000 hours last year. Volunteers help with all the various children's activities, help with the preparation of teacher's kits, man the desk and help visitors, work in the gift shop, and help with many other projects. Without the volunteers, the Museum staff would not be able to carry out all of the important programs.
The leading volunteer is Doug Duffy, with more than 1785 volunteer hours. Second place goes to Dane Brown (deceased) and Karl Baker each with over 750 hours. Charlie Connell and Shirley Cote had over 600 hours each. Hats off to all the volunteers, thank you all, and keep up the good work.
BUT, more volunteers are needed. There are increasing educational activities and other projects that need manpower. So If you have a few hours to spare, please stop by the Museum and see what you can do to help.
While on the subject of volunteering, I hope that the Foundation members will help with all of our projects for the coming year. All members are welcome at board meetings - the next one is March 14 and we will plan activities for the remainder of the year. Members are welcome (urged) to write
