White Mountain Gem and
Mineral Club Show

by Harvey Jong

The White Mountain Gem and Mineral Club held their seventh annual show May

resent the typical Bingham Stage V growth with zoned light blue and violet cubes with barite and galena. Specimens in the somewhat unusual cate

26th and 27th at the National Guard Armory in Show Low.
The show was run by enthusiastic club volunteers and featured over 20 dealers in and around the Armory. Other attractions included demonstrations, exhibits, and door prizes.

A good variety of gems, jewelry, fossils, and minerals was available. A few notable minerals included large cabinet size fluorite specimens from Bingham, New Mexico and Japanese Law quartz twins from various localities. The fluorites rep

gory included smoky quartz clusters from petrified logs found near Saint Johns, Arizona

and quartz pseudomorphs after aragonite from Argentina.
Overall, the show provided a nice opportunity to meet collectors and dealers from the area, share rockhounding experiences, and pick up a specimen or two. It was also a welcome break from the record heat in Phoenix.
