to buy miscellaneous food/condiments; Les volunteered for this task.
TGMS Poster Sales: Les recognized Janice and Genie for their help with the poster sales. He also mentioned that the Galleria chairman complemented the Foundation on its handling of the poster booth. Bob Jones reported that poster sales were down this year, probably due to having two posters. Les, then summarized the sales numbers.  Per the poster agreement, fifteen percent of 2001 poster sales went to cover labor expenses for the booth. Net proceeds for the Foundation less our inital investment show that we're already in the black.
However, Les pointed out that next year may be a financial challenge as the TGMS needs to recoup the production costs of the two 2001 posters.
Les mentioned that the storage of the posters is an issue as the trailer will not be a suitable place during the summer. Provisions for an alternate storage location will be worked out. Bob indicated that the Tucson Show Committee has requested a number of posters. Les replied that each organization is allocated 200 posters which cannot be sold but can be used for gifts, door prizes, etc. Posters for the Show Committee will be delivered ASAP.

Old Business

Lifetime and Honorary Membership Criteria: Les reviewed some preliminary criteria for awarding lifetime and honorary memberships. These memberships will be used to recognize individuals who make significant contributions to the Foundation. Bob pointed out that a process for the Board-nominated category of honorary memberships is needed. Given these new membership categories represent changes to the Foundation Bylaws, Ray suggested that the criteria be published in the next Newsletter to provide notice of the proposed changes. No other action was taken.
Family Day/Days At The Museum: Susan Celestian reported that Family Day/Days will be severely constrained by parking; however, it is possible to use the adjacent lots. She added that the full upstairs area will not available due to the construction of a house exhibit. This exhibit will occupy about 1/4 of the area. Susan indicated, however, that some outdoor dealers could be located in the front and

gated areas of the Museum. Shirley Coté mentioned that the recent APA Family Day was successful with the front setup and visitors parking next door.
Darrel suggested scaling back to the old one day format with a Friday night mineral sale, half dozen dealers, and indoor tailgate show. He will check into organizing show for the third weekend in October (10/20) and coordinate with Susan. Les will contact Tom Horton (MSA) to offer space for the silent auction/wheel of fortune and inquire if the MSA is interested in any additional involvement.
Department/Museum News: Doug Duffy reported that the Motorola Rock and Gem Society lost the lease on their building and have disbanded their shop. The club, though, is still in operation, and members will be coming to the Museum shop. This organization donated vacuum casting equipment and will provide two instructors to teach lost wax casting classes. Two sets of torches, however, are needed to complete the setup. Doug submitted a request for a donation for these torches.
Les pointed out that per a resolution passed two years ago the Foundation makes an annual contribution to the Museum. There was some discussion on whether to raise the annual contribution to provide special donations as needed. Ray moved to donate funds to the Museum Lapidary Shop to purchase the necessary torches, and Bob seconded the motion. The motion passed. Increasing the annual contribution was deferred until a new Foundation budget is constructed.
Darrel raised another potential donation involving the purchase of crystal models that Shirley bought for her exhibit at the Phoenix Gem and Mineral Show. A decision was postponed until the next meeting to allow the Board to see the models.

New Business

Gallery Status: Les opened a preliminary discussion on integrating the Foundation Collection with the Museum displays. This move would provide a larger audience for the Gallery specimens and free up space in the area for other uses, such as a Rockhound Hall of Fame or a library.
Janice raised an issue about some of A. L. Flagg's photo negatives that Richard Flagg borrowed back but had not returned. Susan will check into this. Jan asked for some clarification on the status of the
