RIPARIAN PRESERVE DEDICATION, GILBERT
The Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch in Gilbert will be dedicated on Saturday, October 9th at 10:00 AM, kicking off Earth Science Week activities for the Phoenix metropolitan area. Following the dedication ceremony, tours, clinics, and science demonstrations will be conducted by groups such as the Maricopa Audubon Society, Arizona State University engineering department, Arizona Game and Fish, and Salt River Project.

The Riparian Preserve is located on the southeast corner of Greenfield and Guadalupe, behind the new Maricopa County Regional Library. It is situated on 120 acres and includes a beautiful 5 acre urban fishing lake with a floating boardwalk, a "natural" childrens' play area, an outdoor classroom, an ethno-botanical garden, two streams, 7 groundwater recharge basins, over 20,000 desert adapted plants, two ramadas, two special use penninsulas, and 4 miles of walking trails. Bird-watching opportunities abound. There are also several signs throughout the facility that assist the visitor in learning about Arizona's precious riparian habitat and our most valuable
resource: water.

If you come to celebrate the dedication of the Riparian Preserve, wear comfortable clothing suitable for the outdoors and bring water to drink.
